One fine day at NEW YORK's secret nook called Roosevelt Island
Ugggh, I was making this blog entry on Roosevelt Island while in the train from New York to Hamilton, New Jersey and I was not able to SAAAAAAVE it. Okay, let me try it the second time and see if it can be sweeter.
So what's special about this island? Well, I rather choose this over TIMES SQUARE at night with all blazing neon lights and crowds of tourists and locals alike. We call that Tita moment in the Philippines (imagine an auntie sleeping early and no noise please pleas)!
Roosevelt Island was formerly a location for an insane asylum and a chickenpox hospital. Now it houses a couple of well-kept charming parks. One awesome reason to come here is because it can be accessed by riding a tramway or cable car which is part of the metrocard or the public transportation system. Part of my unlimited rides!
Upon going down the cable car, one can walk briskly or leisurely through a tree-lined boulevard overlooking the Manhattan skyline. At the entry towards the park, one can opt to rent a citibike.
We passed by the ruins of the chickenpox hospital and FDR memorial of hope. There were packets parks as we advancde towards the bust of Theodore Roosevelt, an ilustrious past president of the US. Facing the said bust, one can see the UNITED NATIONS HEADQUARTERS which is a modern rectangular building on the right which tells that that is Manhattan and on the left where the iconic PEPSI COLA signage is located shows that that is the QUEENS side.
One can have picnic or read or sleep in the shade of well-kept trees. And while one does that, a radio broadcast of the speeches of FDR can be overheard.
Another one fine day in the Big Apple it would surely be!
