Foot and Fire

  It was January 2016 when we went to Bantug Lake Ranch in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines to have the photo shoot of a friend's pet dogs be taken. It was more memorable for me because the last time I had a pet dog was when I was in kindergarten. We lost the dog after she followed us and we did not take another pet after her. But when a cousin stayed with us, she had a spoiled dog whom she brings tootsie roll chocolates so that we hated the dog for the special treat that should have been allotted to us. We spanked the dog when my cousin is not around while the dog sneers at us all the time.  Enough with the flooding memories. In short, at the time of the shoot, it was a very comforting and exhilarating moment for me to get close to big dogs given that I don't ever trust their big mouths and fangs. Plus during that time, I was in distress and was thinking of my father who was diagnosed with cancer in November the past year.   *** That year,...

Are these deer heads real? Posing by the wall decors at Kristin's Steakhouse,  Lacson Street, Bacolod City. Kristin's serve crocodile steak as well as ostrich  but we did not dare try as we were genuinely hungry and we need surefire set of meals. Perhaps, next time. I am so happy that aside from the usual 45 days broiler chicken, restaurants nowadays offer native chicken. While there is a slight difference in the pricing, i do not mind. Native chicken is extra tasting, meatier and generally free from feeds and injectable vitamins which boosts growth as native chicken is usually free range or grows in a large backyard. Let me say, native chicken is muscled while broiler chicken is simply big flesh and fat. A must try is the native chicken offered in the Manokan country located in the reclamation area, beside SM City.... But i got a great taste of tinola and lechon manok, both native, at Ting ting's located along BS Aquino Drive, near Doctor's Hospital and I know, I shall be back for it! By GERLIE M. UY And so they dream of having the famous Bacolod Chicken Inasal (grilled skewered chicken), paa (legs) or pecho (breast) part, it does not matter. My friends from Iloilo and I also had chicken gizzard and liver. At Bacolod Chicken House, Lacson Branch in Bacolod City, the chicken has a tasty flesh and the skin is not fatty but crispy. Aside from that, their garlic rice is superb. As prelude to our recent trip to Dumaguete and Siquijor, we had our dinner at Bacolod Chicken House and my friends from Iloilo loved it.
