Foot and Fire

My futile search for the Khalil Gibran memorial sculpture in the East Village of New York, which was supposed to be a Hand of God based on the cover page of The Prophet and said to be designed by Lebanese artist Rudy Rahme, left me with a feeling that I broke a wing. The sculpture was said to have launched last year to commemmorate the 100th years of Gibran as a published author.  The first photo is of me with the new building where the apartment of Gibran once stood at 51 W 10th Street. Farther ahead is the St Mark's Church in-the-bowery, the 2nd oldest church in New York, which was said to be the location of the sculpture. I circled the church and did not find any. One of the top ten longest running Broadway shows, The Phantom of Opera, held its final show last April 2023 and I was lucky to have seen it September of 2022 during my vacation. Well, no need to say that this show is a must-see with a romantic partner. The songs and music, the stage, the actors were all impeccable and the storyline is hauntingly romantic. A Broadway classic indeed which one should see that it was so sad it stopped production in Broadway.  This is the second show I saw after The Wicked. See my blog about The Wicked  here .  I was aiming for the Music Man topbilled by Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster in 2022 but I had limited time for it then and missed it. I just learned later on that it also stopped production in January 2023. I really regret not trying too hard to fit it in my schedule then. Huhuhu!!! This year, I am looking forward to the ever popular Hamilton and Moulin Rouge.
