Let's send more NVC's MINGO meals to Taal Victims

Image
Negrense Volunteers for Change (NVC) has always been around distributing their own MINGO meal, a sachet of powdered rice, monggo and malunggay or moringa which comes as is or is flavored with squash and chocolate, to undernourished children.  NVC sent their MINGO packs to TAAL and on continuing effort to collect more. One can drop in by their office at the BACOLOD CYBERHUB and sponsor the MIngo packs to be to taal. A sachet costs P6 and a P1 is added for logistics in sending to TAAL. I tasted the meal and it is tasty. I Love how it can be eaten by both infants and oldies. It can be served in a chocolate drink or in a Cerelac-like consistency. As a campaigner, I could have had easily opted for a drop in a can solicitation but I Chose a rummage sale because I support the reuse and recycle effort to help the environment and curb the effect of consummerism. This is a bit tiring but it pays off.  This was a bayA...

A day with Taal Volcano and Lake before it erupted

Image
When my cousins brought me in Tagaytay last 11th of January, I was happy. It is a go-to place when one wishes to quickly go out of Manila. I recall that they always bring me here almost each time I visit them in Cavite.  My 2020 visit impressed on me the property development happening around the lake. The scenic view of the volcano and lake is the selling point of the restos and condos or vacation villas. I was able to quip in passing that one buys an expensive property near the lake but one will be so near when the volcano explodes. We were all laughing and dismissed our wishful thinking of buying a property near the tourist spot. Taal Volcano last erupted in 1977 or 43 years ago, so the tragic eruption happened at the surprise, dismay, horror and sadness of residents, property owners, business owners, farmers, fishermen (I tasted Tawilis) and many more who made the tourist spot vibrant in the last four decades. This is one property seen...

Getting the feel of the "summer capital" at the Rafael M. Salas Park and Nature Center, Bago City, Negros Occidental

Image
The park called Rafael M. Salas Park and Nature Center is part of Bago City already. It is located on  a higher altitude than the pavilion of La Carlota City. With pines and fogs, it felt like Baguio City or Tagaytay when we visited the place. It was a quick survey of the place.  Here are my quick photos from my phone. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***

Don Salvador Benedicto, the "little baguio" in the north of Negros Occidental

Image
Don Salvador Benedicto, a municipality in the north of Negros Occidental is a place to enjoy while driving one's own car as all of the places to see are just along the highway... First stop is the Pandanon Valley Resort located in Murcia, just a short bridge away from Pandanon, DSB itself. They have a room from double to family rooms for overnight accommodations and huts for daytime excursionists. Aside from the gushing of waters coming from the creek that separates Murcia and DSB, the resort features pools, a trek along flowers and plants inside the resort premises, and a large activity area. ***   *** Doc J's Stop-over, just a little distance away from Km 37 mark, offers a refreshing halo-halo on not-so-cool days and hot lemongrass tea for cooler days. This place is ideal for intimate family gathering and office rest and recreational activities. Flowers and plants abound this place too. *** Not far ahead is the Lion's Club landmark which is......
