Pitcher plant and other blooms of Antique, Panay Island, Philippines

Image
One of the joys of travelling is being able to see flowers bloom and beautify the surroundings. The vine with white flowers I am holding above is everywhere in the country and it is also here in Antique, Panay Island, Philippines. Here are the blooms I was able to preserve in frame. One of them is the pitcher plant which grows in the trail towards the hills of Malalison Island.  *** *** *** Cat's tail or Bleeding Heart *** *** Blossom of the Tambis fruit. *** *** Lampunaya with blooms. *** The opened Pitcher plant.  It lures the insects inside it and kills them with its acid.  ***

Guava, green mango and tambis Mandala

Fruits are best served washed, dipped in salt and bitten. But it is not always the case. Fruits can be boring and sometimes line up behind sweet colorful candies as the children's fave. One way to perk the serving of fruit is by serving it in a platter with a Mandala pattern.  Mandala is a circular pattern found in many culture. Let the fruits shine with mandala arrangement.

Abiu is a family of star apple said to bear fruit after 18months but it is not a tree but a bush so it is not some tree to climb on. Meanwhile, our tambis is said to bear fruits after three yeras only.. Here are the souvenir photo of the first harvest.. Till next time.

Image
By GERLIE M. UY Not tambis. This is mangkopa, has fuller taste and texture than tambis ! Flashback of our Bounty-ful table: Fruits and other nature goodies.................... The official site taster biting the mangkopa (not apple)! Red red red citrus: cabugaw is tasteful... Yacon is crispy and sweet and far from the carbo-rich tubers!!!! Santol... sweet and small yet pulpy.. Balimbing is best when sliced and dipped with soy sauce!!! Mutant Coconut is good for cooking Our official taster is salivating over the macapuno! Sweet corn is sweet and tender. Avocado... Bugnay, bignay....
