What's eating me in the Big Apple?

Image
Hahaha! The title is a scam just for fun. I am writing about what I was eating during my month-long vacation in the Big Apple. Well, I can say that I liked what I ate all throughout.  I disliked what I had only on three occasions: I don't like the bread used in the sandwich of Nathan's Cart as well as in The Met cafe. While both are in New York City, the only proper eatery I disliked was in DC where I had Chinese noodles and dumplings in the only-open restaurant at 10 am and the best according to the bills posted on its door. I started this blog with what I didn't like so you won't think that I am no picky eater, and that I have no discriminating palate given that I liked almost everything even the neighborhood Colombian food. Let me group the food I had and let me walk you through the memory lane of my gustatory delight sans the elaborated plating and expensive ambiance.   1. Korean Lunch at Seoulia

Kimbap (also Gimbap) which the Little Man declared as his own! He gulped it all the way... *** The sizzling plate of beef (Bulgogi), tofu, and veges.  *** Spicy hot noodles (Ramyeon) and some jelly-like sticky slices with egg. Tita Ann love it! *** The noodles may be searing red but actually it  has a tempered spicy taste. Guksu jeongol (Noodle Casserole) *** Trying out my chopsticks after the Little Man exclaimed  while deshelving his hair, "Ha? Chopsticks?" *** The appetizer was a hit. The Little Man grabbed the Okra. *** The jelly-like not-so-sticky stuff... actually likeable. Must be Dotorimuk (Acorn jelly) *** Egg roll. It is admirable layers of eggs wrapping some veges inside. *** The Red Tea. We loved it. *** Owning a plate of Kimbap!  Sneaky Little Guy. ***

Dinner at Atmosphere, El Nido beachfront, Palawan

Image
By GERLIE M. UY Just posting here the dinner we had at the  Thai-inspired restaurant called Atmosphere  fronting the el nido beach... Aside from being a bit  pricey, the resto has poor service when it comes to group diners. They evidently caters to foreigners who just loiter and orders a few food and drinks. In fact, we are the only ones dining upstairs as all of them are in the beachfront area sitting in the beanbag and mattress prepared by the resto. It is also disappointing as there is no service water too. And while I like the noodles, I was expecting for a rice noodles but they used the local thick noodles which can also be eaten in the sidewalk mami stalls.  lemon grass iced tea  Chicken pandan with peanut sauce.  Thai inspired noodles with chicken and soy sauce. (I'm not sure if my memory serves me well)  Thai inspired noodles with mushroom and shrimp and chili paste. (Not so sure with the chili paste)  Thai inspired noodles with shrimp. I...
