Behind me is the seat of the provincial government of Negros Occidental,  the Provincial Capitol, located at Bacolod City.  Before reaching the capitol grounds from Lacson Street, one has to set foot to the Capital lagoon and children's playground park. At the lagoon, one can feed volumes of tilapia which must be overfed, i guess.  For freeloaders, one can bring her children to the park to enjoy ball games  and the park slides, seesaw, swing and trellis.  And for adults, it is a must to at least look up and admire the sculpture, the gold carabao, among them. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***

               Ivy and Sunbird sandwiching me! New year 2007. It was 1st of January when Rovil replied to the enticing text of Ivy, that is, to drop by the house of Nioly at Kilometrahe 34 in Tabao. He said YES, OKAY, FINE and disembarked SDL and emphasized that he had until 11am just in time for Nioly to prepare to go back to her work in Manila. Take note that when Rovil went out of his house that day, he had only two things to do that day: to bring his fiancée to the port and to sleep. Unfortunately, he replied to Ivy’s text.

We were lucky to have witnessed some old pieces made of ivory during our visit at the UST Museum. From July 18 to September 28, 2013, the UST Museum presents “Ars Eboris Sacri (Art of Sacred Ivory): Ivory and Controversy” at its Main Gallery. "The exhibit will feature religious images from the 19th century and earlier. In the light of recent events involving illegally-sourced ivory and elephant poaching, the exhibit brings together a rare and fascinating collection of sacred images that are made of ivory and points out how these objects are inextricably linked to Philippine history and cultural heritage. Taking a stand against elephant poaching and the collecting and commissioning of new art from ivory, the UST Museum seeks to educate the public about existing sacred art and the context of the cultural heritage of the Church," says the UST website. BOHOL BUTTERFLY GARDEN. I wish today that I can narrate how tickled I was  when these two butterflies were placed right on my ears like earrings. yeeeeey. ***        One of the reasons I travel is because I want to write. And I discovered lately that in order to chronicle my travels itself, I have to write right away. Otherwise, the thrill, the zest, the freshness of the recollection will be abandoned to almost forgetfulness. Photos help but it is not everything there is. There is a crisp quality in one's writing when done right after the travel as well as magical feeling after putting everything down. I am not referring to insights and essays which can be written even years after as a reflection. I just miss the chronicling of what happened. Those moments one do not want to forget because they are fleeting moments. I don't even want to forget the name of the guide or places we went to.
