Strawberrylicious Dessert: Strawberry Gelatin Flan

Image
Who is not curious of how the real strawberries taste? Everyone wants to try the real thing. This red heart-shaped fruit is pretty to the eyes and a favorite flavoring not only for our cake, ice cream, juices, and tarts but also for our childhood vitamins and medicines too.  So when I got hold of mine, I made a strawberry gelatin flan 1 cup strawberries, chopped 4 cups fresh milk or water 1 cup condensed milk 1 cup cream 1 pack gelatin In a pan, add all ingredients. Cook over low heat for about 15 minutes while stirring constantly. When the mixture is about to boil or starts to boil, remove from fire. Let cool in a glass pan and refrigerate to let it set in. Slice and serve chilled.  Here's a link to my youtube video on my berrylicious dessert  STRAWBERRY GELATIN FLAN.

Wash the seaweeds and blanch until color changes but not too long to overcook. Drain. Add vinegar to the seaweeds to steep. In a platter, arrange the seaweeds, sprinkle with salt and add all ingredients. Mix and enjoy!

Finding (surprising!) Picasso pieces at the MoMA and The Gugg

Image
Picasso surprised me during my museum hopping in New York last year. I did not expect that I could see his works other than his famed cubism. The above Le Demoiselles D'Avignon is what everyone can easily recognize as Picasso. It was sure familiar but to see how big it is in person, I cannot now be duped by its cameo reference in Titanic movie where it was just held by hand by Rose. By the way, this use of picasso image in the movie was subject of  a suit. This work is very much associated to Picasso as the Girl in the Mirror.  These two works of Picasso may not be my personal favorites but I admire Picasso and his criticism of the society through his works. These two pieces can be found in MoMA or the Museum of the Modern Arts  and more. I found his other works in MoMA, Four Dancers and Woman plaiting her hair, both figure paintings, a pleasant find and a breather to his cubism style. The charming Thomas Edison Center in New Jersey is worth a day tour

Image
There is this tiny museum of all things tinkered by the all-time famous inventor Thomas Alva Edison while he was in New Jersey called Thomas Edison Center.  The tiny center is filled with 100+ year-old stuff of all sorts from that phonograph, vinyl album and many bolts and nuts. Some are original vintage items while some are prototypes. But what made our visit extra interesting was we were lucky to be guided by Ms. Barbara who is so knowledgeable of all things Edison. She volunteers twice a month in the center.  The center has interactive set ups that will interest both young and olds. I would love to bring my nephews there so that their love for tinkering, invention and science will be unlocked. Well, I brought home a ref magnet to start the convo about this inventor who said that "genius is 99%persperation and 1% inspiration." The tour concluded with the lighting of the tower outside. The tower houses the ages old
