Side Trip is fun at the Ruins of Isabela, Negros Occidental

Image
Nestled for several meters from the highway, this ruin is a little intriguing when one is heading to Isabela, Negros Occidental and coming from La Castellana so that one day, I and a friend decided to stop by and take a look.  That was two years ago. Nothing grand is left actually, just columns and pillars and some steps as well as vines growing around it but it pays to drop by and see for yourself before everything collapses.  No horror stories, just remnants of an old mansion of Isabela. Perhaps, the past affluence of Negros Occidental is far and wide that it extends to Isabela, not just Silay City or Bago City. Next time you go to Isabela, don't forget to drop by because there are things that need our attention that need no travel so far. Happy side tripping!!!     Vines of flowers will be great addition to this site.    ***   From afar, big trees are extending their arms. ***     A very rural ...

Getting the feel of the "summer capital" at the Rafael M. Salas Park and Nature Center, Bago City, Negros Occidental

Image
The park called Rafael M. Salas Park and Nature Center is part of Bago City already. It is located on  a higher altitude than the pavilion of La Carlota City. With pines and fogs, it felt like Baguio City or Tagaytay when we visited the place. It was a quick survey of the place.  Here are my quick photos from my phone. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***

Koronadal City, South Cotabato: Setting foot in Notre Dame of Marbel University

Image
This a new building in progress inside the campus. Outside, the renovation is still on-going and we would not have gotten a good view of the school had we not met Ms. Dalia Mesias of the registrar's office of the university. After we finished the Zumba at Rizal Park, we wanted to take a look at the alma mater of some of our friends. While walking along Bonifacio Street, I chanced to ask from a local who also exercised that morning where the Notre Dame of Marbel is. After assuring me that it is just across the street, she asked me why I want to go to the school. I told her, I want to see the school of some of my friends, some went there in high school and another went there for college. Alas, Lady Serendipity ushered us to the right person. The lady whose family is rooted in Bago City, Negros Occidental works in the registrar's office. So, the gate was opened for us. *** A pose in front of the statue of the founder of Notre Dame of Marbel University. Accordin...

Flowers in Frames

Flower photos remind of the joys of travelling.  Happiness in not all present through out the journey  but it pays to remember the better moments  and the difficulties became a history not worth mentioning.  -- Gerlie M. Falls of Pata-an in Bago City, Negros Occidental

Image
Coolness. Mountain. Resort. Nature. Falls. These are only some of the one-word description I can give to Pata-an Mountain Resort located at Bago City, Negros Occidental. It is just a farther drive to PNOC and a little farther from Kipot Falls of Bago City. It features a free-falling falls with water-rushing sounds from the creek. A group of four can stay in overnight in a room for P800/night. For daytime trippers, a P500/day hut can be rented. The use of swimming pool has a P40/pax charge while bathing in the falls is free of charge. One can also use the dirty kitchen for cooking and grilling. And of course, the cold spring water from the falls is free flowing.  *** The green plains and mini-rice terraces along the way. *** A wonderful bloom. This is a kind of flower that abound most mountains of Negros Occidental. *** My parents behind the yellow blooms. *** My father and my nephew in front of big and tall bamboos. *** P...
