Left-over bread pudding

Image
We went to the beach last weekend and when we went home, we have a lot of left over bread. they are not stale but they definitely got deformed. They sure looked unpleasant and were sure headed to the trash. but wait, I have milk and cheese in the fridge, so I made them into pudding. INGREDIENTS bread 1 can condensed milk 1 can evaporated milk 4 beaten eggs  grated cheese METHOD: Preheat oven at 180 C for ten minutes. Tear the bread into small pieces. Mix all liquid ingredients in a bowl. In a pan, place a handful of bread and moisten with the liquid mixture, one batch after another until all pieces of bread are wet.  Push all moisten bread in the pan. Sprinkle grated cheese on top. Bake fore 20 to 30 minutes at 180 C.

Let's Boycott King Richard; Watch GI Jane

Image
Now, I don't like Will Smith for being unprofessional. Sorry, won't watch his film though I had been his admirer.  I admire Chris Rock for not losing his composure and hit Smith back; that's professional.  No one from the crew pulled Smith aside. Oscars witnessed violence on air but did nothing. What I could not understand is his violent reaction to a G.I. JANE reference used by Chris Rock to obviously refer to the baldness of Smith's wife Jada.   G I. Jane is a classic empowering film which highlighted the physical greatness of women too. That women can get bald too. Demi Moore played the role very well in that film. I encourage that you watch G.I. Jane rather than the King Richard. Well, as the film title suggests, Will Smith acted like a despotic king. As pinoys say, "may hangin sa ulo." #oscars2022 #kingrichard #chrisrock #GIJane #willsmith #gijane #willsmithassaultchrisrock #boycottkingrichard

Sharing magical moments at Magikland in Silay, Negros Occidental

Image
Summer is here. The proof? Just this weekend we had Magical Moments at Magikland located in Silay, Negros Occidental. Did 8000 plus steps in an afternoon, got dizzy at the Crazy trail, fitted my oversized butt at the Happy Swing meant for kids, missed the 6pm show over queuing for Lemon Yakult. Tired and sleepy but has to post before the magic's gone. Check instagram here   Youtube vids at Foot and Fire by Gerlie

Blooms of Guintubdan 2022

Image
My hearts Cool, icy, breezy Guintubdan is home to a number of waterfalls, insects and plants. This March 2022, we celebrated our March babies and we slept overnight. We enjoyed the newly added amenity at the La Carlota City Pavillon, the swimming pool with overflowing nature's spring water.  Located at the foot of Mt. Kanlaon, sitio Guintubdan of Brgy Ara-al is home to different animals and flowers. I am happy that I was able to bring home wild raspberry to grow in a big pot. I cross my fingers on this!!! I am sharing my latest photos here: Puple, lav or violet Gabi gabi so pretty Dainty pink Angel's Trumpet is said to be hallucinogenic No id Mmmmm pretty Gabi-gabi Cat's tail, we call this. My version of Napa Kimchi or Baechu Kimchi

Image
I had posted my gut-feel  kimchi made of pechay in 2011  and another one in 2014  , times when korean chili is not yet available or should I say, back when there's no kdrama in Netflix yet (correct me if im wrong). But I just realized recently that I have never posted my napa kimchi when k chili pepper can already be bought in the local k store.  Filipinos love to buro or fermenting with salt. My parents make buro nga iba (kamias fermented in salt) or tinabal (fish fermented in salt) or buro nga batwan (salted batwan or souring fruit). Ginamos nga hipon, (shrimp fermented in salt) is a constant in Filipino wetmarkets. Thus, I knew I can navigate making kimchi from scratch then.  For my friend who wants to make her own kimchi, I dedicate this blog. Happy kimchi day at your kitchen. I'm letting a secret out: Add apple to achieve that delightful sourness. Day 1 3 kilos Napa Cabbage 1 Cup salt Step 1 Day2 1 white onion, sliced vertically 1/2 ...

Kkagdugi or cubed radish kimchi

Image
Because my suki (seller I patronize at our local wet market) gave me lots of radish to take home, I decided to make it into radish kimchi. Kkagdugi refers to cubed radish made into kimchi, as the name came from the motion and sound of cubing the radish. Thus, I did not decide to julienne the radish because if I do so, it will not be called kkagdugi anymore. Kkakdugi or Radish Kimchi 3 kls radish 3 T salt 3 T brown sugar 1/2 C Fish sauce 1 C chili flakes A bunch of Chives 4 T garlic 2 T ginger Dice the radish and place In a large plastic or glass bowl. Add salt and sugar. Let stand for 30 minutes so water will come out. Drain the radish with liquid. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Use gloves to protect hands. Put the mixture in sterilizef bottles with caps. Place plastic on the mouth before closing the lid. Let stand in room temperature for 2 days to ferment  and turn into desired sourness, and refrigerate to slow down fermentation. But this c...

Heart wrenching and warming Pan de Salawal (2018) in Netflix is a must-watch

Image
My nephew and I decided to watch Filipino films listed in Netflix as break  from the usual fare. I was hoping for titles which can represent  the artistic vision of Filipino directors  but I could not see some. I have seen one (Arisaka) with Maja Salvador as a cop with story on Bataan Death March as base but I  didn't like it because the story could have been developed  well if given some deeper reflection and thoughts on how to do it. Hinog sa pilit as we say which means it ripened just because it was forced to, thus, I was even thinking that the story material  was wasted. But I gave credit to the  scenic shots and play with light and dark. I did not give up, and I happily stumbled on Pan de Salawal starring Bodjie Pascua of my childhood Batibot, a Filipino version of Sesame Street, as Sal or short for Salvador. The girl's acting here played by Miel Espinosa is also promising. This is a 2018 film but I can say that this can be watched at...
