DIY Homemade Tomato Sauce

Creating your own homemade tomato sauce is a rewarding and delicious way to preserve the fresh flavors of ripe tomatoes. Begin by selecting a kilo of your favorite fresh tomatoes, ensuring they are ripe & free from blemishes.

Ingredients
Fresh tomatoes
Olive oil
Garlic cloves
Onion
Salt
Pepper
Basil (optional, fresh or dry)

Instructions
Prepare the Tomatoes: Pierce top & bottom of tomato with a cross. Blanch tomatoes in boiling water, peel off skin, and chop.

Sauté Aromatics: In a pan, heat olive oil, then add minced garlic and chopped onion.

Combine: Add tomatoes to the pan and season with salt, pepper, and basil.

Simmer: Let it cook on low heat until thickened, about 45 minutes.

Preserve: Pour into sterilized jars and seal and refrigerate. Enjoy your sauce!
