TECHNOLYMPICS is superlove
Last week, I had the opportunity to experience the Technolympics, an olympic involving technical and vocational skills such as bread and pastry, flower arrangement, table napkin folding, food preservation and food processing among others. I was invited to act as judge in the Bread and Pastry wherein five schools participated to make dinner rolls, swiss rolls and petit fours in three hours, including cleaning up of their stations as well as packaging and plating of their outputs.
Petit fours
The bread output of the contestants.
Here I am enjoying the thrill as judge for bread and pastry.
I was enjoying my time with the contestants, observing them doing their thing. However, everyone who saw me that day was surprised to see me there. They presumed that I was just lost or just spending leisurely my day there. It was actually funny for them to be surprised because since time immemorial, I had been churning out food for my own liking and consumption. Actually, I was a TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) training recipient for food processing, enrolled in CHMSC (Carlos Hilado Memorial State College) in Talisay City, Negros Occ. for Cookery and Restaurant Service. So to the young minds, continue to be interested in what you do right now as you will never know how the skill will aid you in your adult life. Good luck!
When asked for an introduction of myself, I sent in this:
Gerlie M. Uy
Started her love for cooking at 7 and remembers the moment when her father shooed her away from the kitchen because she was too young to do the cooking chore. She loved the word "saute" the first time she learned it and eventually added her cooking vocabulary when she signed up for Del Monte Kitchenomics recipe mails at age 12. Her favorite travel always includes the wet market and grocery maze. Check out her own recipe blogs at www.beforesixdiet.blogspot.com
Wow. Thanks so much for your support and loving Technolympics .
