Lacto-fermentation trio: Sauerkraut, kimchi & carrots

A healthy gut is the foundation of good health. If one has a healthy gut, one can absorb vitamin and minerals and utilize them to fuel the body. Conversely, an unhealthy gut cause domino effect on health causing one issue and leading to another. Of course, many researches show us that sugar and seed oils cause inflammation while fibers from vegetables and fruits can keep us from glucose spikes. Meanwhile, fermented vegetables are twin armors which can give us fiber and healthy bacteria in our gut.  Lacto-fermentation is easy to make at home and can be done to a lot of vegetables. I live sauerkraut because of its mild tangy taste, I love kimchi because of its spiciness that gives a kick to meals and carrots are wobderful when they're slender as compared to bulky ones favored for cooking as they're peeled in one go for being large or extra large. Of course, one can use the large ones to ferment. Slender ones are tasty and one carrot is one serving of side dish for me....

The book is peppered with photographs, inserted letters & calling card, one-sentence pages, codes and many more with the grand exit of flip pages at the end. There is sadness all throughout the journey of Oskar who has a mission to accomplish which he believed to have been left by his father who suddenly died in 9/11. But Oskar is a 9 year old who knows a lot of things and invented many made us smile with his innocent antics and childlike ideas and expressions.  While looking for the lock of the key for eight months, Oskar unlocked many faces along the way, strangers and kin alike. He also made friends with some. Oskar also uncovered an important past in the life of his father too which will be important to his future. February Rain (collection of poems of Amadeo Mendoza)

I enrolled in the online poetry class of Amadeo Mendoza which consists of 6 sessions, and he promoted the maiden collection of his poems called February Rain published by Balangay Publications which can be accessed via Lazada. Let me guess why he had this title aside from the fact that page 5 houses a poem with such a title. The month of February is love while rain stand for tears. The book is filled with his life's poetry and philosophical ruminations on life, love, art, and politics as well as story-telling. Sir Deo promoted his class and book because the proceeds will help him finance his sister who has medical needs.     I had been a member of a poetry group when I was in college and it was a good experience but what I ended up doing is to do my own thing. It appears that I could not finish a poem if I follow what's expected of a good poem or I kept someone editing my work. Well, that became a double-edged sword. It served me well enough to fearles...
