My First Broadway is Wickedly made Memorable by a friend

What a wicked girls' night out that was. 

My college galfriend and I went together for our first ever broadway show, The Wicked, The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz. We enjoyed the music, the songs, the voice, the lines and all actors are perfect. On top of the raw talent of the orchestra players and stage actors, the stage lights and effects are all
perfect. The production is superb that one could not feel that more than two hours had past.

Premiered in San Francisco in 2003, Wicked is a 2003 musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman. It is based on the 1995 Gregory Maguire novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, which is based on the characters and setting of the 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum and the 1939 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film The Wizard of Oz. (Wikipedia)

In brief, the story of Wicked revolves on the theme of belongingness and friendship of two witches of Oz who are ugly and beautiful, and later tagged as good and evil. Loyalty cemented their friendship. It is only apt that two friends have to watch it together. 


The Wicked is shown at the Gershwin Theater. And although we were seated at P115 and P116 of the Orchestra, we can still intimately feel the stage, something that the filmed version cannot deliver.

The laugh and lines of Glinda was engaging given her not-so-talented lot in witchcraft and the acting and voice of Elphaba or Elphie was mesmerizing given her emerald color. All characters are good singers and dancers and the orchestra perfectly registers a good sound inside the hall. 


The bow came too fast, and the curtain fell down with graceful finality despite the fact that more-than-two-hours of singing and dancing had passed. We went home happy and reasy to part ways pursuing our goals in the next phases of our lives.

TIKUM KADLUM (The Enchanted Dog, The First of the Ten Epics of Panay Bukidnon)

Linabog nga Bisaya nga Manok

When I searched for Linabog in th web, I can see entries on Linabog but using a different souring agent and usually the fish called "pagi" is used. Also, they attribute Linabog to the Cebuanos and there is one video which explained that the word means "throw away" because the parts used in the dish are parts which are usually to be thrown away, like the bony "pagi." Meanwhile, there is also a "kinunot" way of cooking which means "hinimay" or flaked for the Luzon. The name was also coined for leftover parts of fish or chicken. In Hiligaynon, the word "labog" means forcefully thrown away.  This surprised me because when I was small, I heard from my father and his friends about this linabog and they used the leaves of labog plant. So I grew up having some idea of what linabog cooking means and definitely, the Cebuanos' definition of Linabog dish is far from my Ilonggo definition. And yes, Ilonggos
