The Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Thailand)

Image
The Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha a.k.a Wat Phra Kaeo (Thailand) Here is an essay in photos we got after trekking the vast area of the Grand Palace in Thailand from here up to there despite the heat of the Sun. Not captured were the important artifacts in the museum, like the king's robe made of gold thread. The antiquity of the Emerald Buddha (dressed in summer, rainy and winter season) is awesome. The grandeur of the Grand Palace is beyond words. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***

Banana cake, Melon smoothie and Sago Malamig

Image
Banana, Melon and Sago Malamig By GERLIE M. UY Revisit our Banana cake , Melon smoothie and try our quick and easy cooler Sago Malamig! I prepared banana cake sans the peanuts in our archive recipe and I reduced the sugar by 30% and doubled the recipe. For Melon Smoothie, I blender the melon sans the watermelon in our original recipe, and in lieu of the yogurt, I used all purpose cream. In other times, an evaporated milk may be used. Now, for Sago Malamig, boil a multi-colored 100g sago pearls until cooked without white in the center. Put in the freezer. In a liiter cold water, add mascuvado sugar untl desired sweetness and shake until dissolved and freeze. In a tall glass, put three tablespoons of sago, add the mascuvado juice and top with ice. There, the cooler is for gulping. copyright to photos reverts to owners

But Loy Krathong, the full-moon festival in the 12th month of the Thai calendar, remains magical. After nightfall, locals send candlelit and flower-strewn floats made of banana leaves down rivers to represent relinquishing one's negative emotions for the upcoming year. Otherworldly schools of lantern balloons are also dispatched into the sky. In big cities, firework displays complete the show. Here's a link to my Facebook Album for more photos... http://www.facebook.com/gerlie.uy?v=photos&sb=4#!/album.php?aid=44096&id=1610485923&op=6 One beach day in Pattaya City, Thailand         An array of sights in the beach of Pattaya City. Coral Island is off from the city of Pattaya and can be reached via a 30 minute boat ride, punctuated by a quick para sailing experience which costs 350 baht only and mind you, my friend says it was worth a try.        Pattaya is a busy tourist area that is why there are many foreigners enjoying the water guns for the Songkran Festival and the shore is lined with umbrellas, open in the morning and folded by sunset. Lining the city were series of stores, restos of all

Along Chaophraya River of Thailand

Image
Chaophraya River is already outside Bangkok but it is very accessible as it is a major tourist destination. Along the river, one can see various temples, hotels, hospitals and other awesome buildings. Get a sampling of the photos I captured during our trip... Here's a Link to my facebook album for more photos... http://www.facebook.com/note.php?saved&&suggest&note_id=398128882071#!/album.php?aid=43911&id=1610485923 This where we gathered to wait for the tour boat. Along the river, we saw some longtail boat, a fast and big vessel with lots of river commuters as well as solo travellers. Since we have a tour group, we were in a small boat called boat taxi...and we coursed through the river slowly...  S This is the Wat Arun or The Temple of Dawn. We climbed up the steep stairs and it feels like we are going to the top of the hill to see heaven. The skyline is beautiful and breathtaking! It pays to climb when you get there...really a fascinating try. \
